On to the Chase!!!

Chase Grid

Well, well, well... lookie who's back on top of the leaderboard.  Chonk qualified for the Chase in the 4th position, but those 5 wins give him 15 HUGE bonus points and the #1 seed to start the Chase.  Team Piston, Ideal, Kiss, Graziano, Skidmarks and Shepard all qualified on points and will get 3 bonus points per win they accumulated during the regular season.  Dust, Pursuit, Asleep, Beef, Rowdy and Empty all qualified on getting 3+ wins.  Congratulations to all 13 teams who have made it this far!

As we begin the postseason, I want to make sure everyone is clear on the new rules this season.  As you can see the from the standings above, we have reset the eligible teams points based on qualifying position and regular season wins bonus points… if you were able to qualify in one of the top 7 spots.  Those who qualified outside the top 7 by getting 3 or more wins during the regular season will start with 1000 points.

A quick overview:

The NASCAR Fantassy Cup Chase is a four round format starting at Chicagoland (race 27)
o   A win in any round automatically advances that team to the next round (in theory)
o   Only 5 teams will make it out of Round 1... That means 8 teams will be eliminated after "The Flirter" Round.
o   One team will be eliminated after the second round, "The Teaser".
o   One team will be eliminated after the third round, "The Fluffer".
o Only three teams will enter the fourth and final round, "The O Face or Finisher" for the NASCAR Fantassy Cup

Let's do a deep dive of the Flirter Round:

Ø  First round (races 27-29) - “The Flirter”
o   The top five teams based on points accumulated during races 27-29 will advance to the next round... Again, this means that 8 of you will not advance past the next 3 races.
o   Wins automatically advance a team; the balance of the five teams will be filled in according to points accumulated in the three race Teaser Round
§  The first tiebreaker is number of wins in the current round
§  Second tiebreaker is number of wins during the regular season
§  Third tiebreaker is number of points during the regular season
§  Fourth tiebreaker is whoever got their first win first
§  Fifth tiebreaker is biggest penis or vagina

Shallow Thoughts:

I'm interested in seeing how you guys play it during this round... Go for strong and steady and get as many points as possible??? or go for a win in each round??? Being in the top 5 in points isn't as obvious as it seems... If I were one of the 1000 point starting teams knowing I'm 15 points behind... I'm going for a win.  Unless 5 other teams ahead of you get wins... you will advance, but you'll potentially be behind the 8 ball in the next round as the points will accumulate.  The good news is that after the Flirter Round, only 1 team is eliminated each round, so you'll just have to not be last.  Sounds simple...

I'm just glad I don't have to worry about the 5th tiebreaker...

Good luck to everyone!  I cannot wait to see how it all plays out over the final 10 races.

Cheers!
