Sonoma Results - Smoke Smokes the Field!!!!

Yo yo Amigos y Amigas!  No one picked Sonoma race winner Tony Stewart, but we do have a new leader and a little shuffling in the middle of the pack.  I think our 4 distinct packs are now 3... no real bed shitters this week so we'll recap Sonoma real quick as we get ready for Daytona on Saturday.

TOP PICKS:
#Wifey and Chonk took 4th place Edwards - They both move up 1 spot this week - #Wifey 6th and Chonk 8th.

Graziano and Wheels took 5th place Truex Jr. - Graz stays in 5th while Wheels moves up 1 to 9th.

Piston and Beef took 10th place Kurt Busch - Piston has solo possession of the lead once again and Beef stays in 12th.

Nice Job Guys and Gal!

EH.../DOOTW/BSOTW:

Ok so Dust and Pursuit would have the BSOTW this week (McMurray 17th) since Dust drops out of the Elite 8 to 10th and Pursuit stays in last... I think it is worthy of a BSOTW award but not a bad one.  Rusty would have the DOOTW (Menard 16th) and he drops out of 1st to 2nd... not too bad either.

Kiss gets a 12 place finish from Larson and our most popular pick AJ Allmendinger finished 14th for Ideal, Shepard, Penguin, Skidmarks and Empty.

OTHER RAMBLINGS:

Daytona this week on Saturday night!  Don't forget your picks...

Do we have 3 packs now???  That top 5 seem to be pulling away... the middle 7 seem to be swapping spots each week... The last 3 teams haven't made any ground in a while.  Is it time for anyone to change strategies???  Rusty with his 3 wins has a chance to finish on top and rake in all of those bonus points to boot, but is that worth using up all of your stuff?  Or do you save fuel and coast around the track?  I think we'll see a blended strategy out of the top guys while some of the middle guys will be going for wins and big gains over the next several races.  Those bottom 1 win teams will probably be going hard and picking the race favorites if they have them available.  The issue is that these races are sofa king unpredictable that even your best strategy may not mean a damn thing when the smoke clears... This is why we love to hate this League... Isn't it?

Good luck in Daytona!  I hope you are planning a nice and safe Holiday Weekend!

Cheers!

Sonoma Drivers!!!!

Rules Committee - Kyle Larson Penalty Update - While there was  a level P3 penalty issued to the #42 team of Kyle Larson for actions detrimental to stock car racing and failing post-race laser measurement inspection, it isn't clearly stated that the infraction affected the car's performance.  It can be inferred from that penalty that performance was probably affected, but we have no concrete information on that and therefore won't deduct any points.  We don't want to act on "probablies".  We will only deduct points in instances when we can find clearly stated evidence that the car's performance was affected  and it might feel unfair when it happens, but we aren't Nascar and are at the mercy of the internet and what information it provides.

Commish's 2 cents - Damn it!  :)

Are you curious about my Dog's Nanny's take on Road Course Racing????

She says put your big boy pants on and turn right every now and then... she's so silly.

Michigan Results - Unpicked Logano Dominates - 12 of 15 Teams Get Top 10 Finishes!!!

We finally had a relatively uneventful race in Michigan... compared to the last few races anyway.  This week was all about the haves and the have nots, and we had plenty of haves.  12 of 15 teams finished in the Top 10... but unfortunately no one picked race winner Logano.

Our most popular pick was also the TOP PICK. Kyle Larson finished 3rd and was picked by Ideal (stays in 3rd), Shepard (stays in 4th), Graziano (Moves up 1 to 5th), #Wifey (Stays in 7th), and Kiss who stays in 14th.

Dust (Actually drops a spot to 8th), Chonk (Stays in 9th), and Wheels (stays in 10th) took 4th place finisher Keselowski.  Skidmarks (stays in 11th) took 6th place finisher Edwards.  Piston (Moves into a tie for 1st), Beef (stays in 12th) and Pursuit (stays in 15th) took 8th place finisher Austin Dillon.

In a week where most teams had success we don't really see a lot of movement.  At this point in the season where we are just logging laps until the Chase, it is nice to be one of the haves... especially if you are in or around the Elite 8.  A win would have been nicer, but a good solid week guys and girl!!!

Our EH... pick this week was Rusty (stays in 1st although tied now) and 12th place finisher Truex Jr.  Disappointing given Truex's recent solid finishes, but all in all not a terrible week.

Empty gets the DOOTW with his 19th place Biffle pick.  Biffle has had great finishes in Michigan in the past, but not so much this time.  Empty stays in 13th though and is not out of this thing for sure.

Penguin (drops a spot to 6th) gets the BSOTW this week with his "I too like to live dangerously" pick of Hamlin who had a solid top 33 finish.  Nice.  The only thing better than shitting the bed is shitting the bed and having to wait 2 weeks to recover from shitting the bed.  Good times.

OTHER RAMBLINGS:

Sonoma 2 Sundays from now.

I'd like to wish all of you Mothers a Happy Father's Day where applicable.

Cheers!

Pocono Results - Kurt Busch Wins - 4 Teams Celebrate - 1 Team Now Locked Into the Chase!!!!!!!

You guys are not going to guess what I'm about to say but we had another eventful race in Pocono.  4 Teams get a win this week... and 1 of those teams is now locked into the Chase.  All in all, 10 teams finished in the top 10.  1 team finished 11th and 4 teams had a bad day.  So what does that mean?

Well we have a new leader... Rusty.  He is also the team that got his 3rd win and is locked in for the Chase to compete for the Title.  Well done Rusty!!!

We are starting to see 4 distinctive packs forming... we'll get into that later.

Other than that... who knows what it means?

The Top Pick was Kurt Busch and Rusty, Penguin, Skidmarks, and Empty took him.  Rusty is back on top after taking a 4 race break from leading the pack.  Penguin jumps up a spot to 5th and Skid stays in 11th but is now only 5 points away from the Elite 8.  Both Penguin and Skid grab win #2.  Empty gets win #1 and stays in 13th, but is only 14 points out of the Elite 8.  Kurt Busch was also the most popular pick this week and he did not disappoint.  Congratulations fellas!

To round out the Top 10 we had Ideal and Beef taking Brad K. who finished 3rd.  Ideal jumps up 2 spots to 3rd with his 2 wins and Beef actually loses a spot to Skid.  He falls to 12th, but is only 11 points away from the Elite 8.

#Wifey and Wheels took 5th place Logano.  #Wifey jumps up 2 spots to 7th and back into the Elite 8.  Wheels stays in 10th but is now just 2 points out of the Elite 8.

Piston took Kahne (6th).  Kahne was a solid pick this week, but Rusty's win causes Piston to give up the lead.  Piston is now running 2nd and is just 3 points out of 1st.

Shepard took 9th Place Harvick.  This is an okay finish for Harvick, but I'm sure Shepard expected more.  He stays in 4th though and continues a solid 2016 campaign.

Nice job to all the TOP 10 pickers!

Chonk had our EH... pick with his 11th place Kyle Larson pick.  A solid week for Larson, but Chonk (9th) drops out of the Elite 8 this week... by only 1 point.

The DOOTW and BSOTW are combined this week as both picks were equally brutal.

Kiss burned a Kyle Busch (31st) pick and stays in 14th... this bad luck pick loses him 21 points on the Elite 8.  Kiss has 1 win and is now 52 points away from 8th.  Not time to panic yet, but he'll need to put together a few solid weeks if he wants to get back in this thing.

Graziano, Dust and Pursuit took a chance on Tony Stewart who has done well in Pocono and had been showing signs of improvement lately... not to mention practicing and qualifying well amidst the shitty weather leading up to the beautiful Monday race day.  Graz plummets 3 spots to 6th.  With 0 wins, he'll need to bounce back this week in Michigan.  Dust stays in 7th, but the top 6 are starting to separate themselves from the mid-pack teams.  Pursuit stays at the bottom, and like Kiss he'll need to string together a few solid weeks to get back in the mix.

The good thing about a Monday race when you BSOTW is that there is one less day to pout about your bad luck.

Other Ramblings:

Michigan this week on Sunday.

We are starting to see a few smaller packs forming if you take a closer look at the leader board...

  • the top 2 are driving away and battling it out.  3 points separate these guys.
  • 3rd through 6th are running solidly in the Elite 8.  14 points separate these guys.
  • 7th through 13th could easily shuffle next race. We have an awesome battle for those final elite 8 spots.  14 points separate these guys.
  • The last 2 are fading away and need to turn things around... quickly.

All that being said... we have 5 2 win teams who could lock in this week... 3 of which are in the pack fighting to stay in the Elite 8.

A string of crappy weeks could also change which pack in which you run as well... I f*cking love to hate this League.

I do not think we will see any major strategy changes yet, but those 0 win teams know they are not safe... no matter where they are running.  1 win teams will feel better if/when they grab win #2.

But what the hell do I know?

I hope we all make the Chase and fight it out during those last 10 races, but I know this will not happen.

Good luck over the next 12 races guys and girl.

Cheers!

Charlotte Scramble - Truex Finally Breaks Through - Rusty Rejoices!!!!!

It seems like I say this after every week, but we had another eventful race in Charlotte.  We had Rusty with the TOP PICK who picks up win #2 with his Truex pick.  It must be pretty nice to see your pick, who started on the pole, absolutely dominate the race... were you ever even a little worried Rusty?  Rusty moves up a spot to 2nd... just 6 points behind 1st.  Nice Pick amigo!

We had 11 of our 15 teams finish in the top 10.  Also in this this group we had 1 team joining the Elite 8 for the 1st time this year and our most popular pick not shit the bed.  I didn't check Vegas, but I don't think the Vegas favorite shit the bed either.
  • Kiss took Johnson (3rd) and stays in 14th and now is 31 points away from 8th.
  • Our leader Piston took Keselowski who brought it home in 5th.  Team Piston hold on to the top spot for the 2nd race in a row and have been at the head of the pack for 3 of the last 4 races.
  • Ideal, Chonk, and #Wifey took 6th place finisher Kurt Busch.  Ideal jumps a spot to 5th, Chonk (8th) jumps up 2 spots and into the Elite 8 for the 1st time all year, and #Wifey jumps up 2 spots to 9th just 5 points away from the Elite 8.
  • Graziano took 8th place finisher Chase Elliott.  Graz has a solid week but loses a spot to Rusty's top pick this week.
  • Shepard, Dust, Skidmarks and Pursuit had the most popular pick Logano who finished 9th.  Shepard stays in 4th, Dust stays in 7th, Skid moves up 2 spots to 11th and Pursuit stays in 15th.
Awesome job guys!

We also had 2 teams fall out of the Elite 8.

Beef (Kyle Larson - 13th) and Wheels (Earnhardt - 14th) get our EH... pick this week.  Beef gains a spot to 11th but Wheels (10th) is one of the teams who fell out of the Elite 8 this week.

Penguin chose Edwards who passed gas in bed and held him under the sheets.  the 18th place finish gets him the DOOTW.  Edwards ran great all race, but much like my wedding night... he was too fast entering... twice!  But it could be worse...

Empty gets the BSOTW this week with his 33rd place Kyle Busch pick.  Kyle was another strong car but he collided with Larson late in the race and ended his day.  This accident really made no sense but unfortunately for Empty it happened anyway.  Empty plummets out of the Elite 8 to 13th, but is only 26 points away from getting back in.  0 wins is concerning, but nothing to be too worried about at the moment.

OTHER RAMBLINGS:

All in all we had 10 of 15 places change hands...

Pocono this week on Sunday.

I'm looking forward to another eventful race.

Good luck to you all!

Cheers!
