Fontana Results - Johnson Takes the Win From Harvick - Nobody Picked him, but there was Plenty of Action!

Happy Easter Weekend amigos!  Ah Springtime in late March... what a great time to be alive.  The days are longer, the flowers are blooming (ok maybe the snow is melting), the birds are chirping.  The Sweet 16 is winding down and shaping the Great 8.  Baseball season is on the verge of opening day and the Astros are looking strong.  Everything is wonderful... Well... there's this League, but other than that everything is wonderful.  

I'm kidding of course... I love this lovely league.  Even if it angers me sometimes.  I'm sure I'm the only one right?

The race was exciting with Harvick dominating, Truex looking good for a while, Johnson led some and for the most part our picks hung out near the top for most of the race.  But that is not how it ended.

TOP PICKS:

Johnson took the lead for good late in the race... there was some drama , but he beat Rusty's pick Harvick (2nd) and kept Rusty from getting his 1st win.  Rusty gets a nice points day and moved into 2nd place only 7 points out of the top spot.  Congrats Rusty!

Graziano took the 3rd place car of Hamlin.  Graziano gains 2 spots and sits in 9th just 2 points away from our Elite 8.  Good job Graz!

Wheels and Beef chose 4th place Logano.  Our League leader moves out of a tie for 1st and now has a 7 point lead over brother in law Rusty.  The holidays may be a little tense in that clan... Meanwhile Beef breaks into the Elite 8 moving up 2 spots to 7th.  Well Done guys!

Edwards was our most popular pick this week and he finished 7th.  Piston, Shepard, Dust, Empty, and Ideal all took Edwards.  Piston, Shepard and Dust keep their 4th, 5th, and 6th place spots.  Ideal jumps up 2 spots to 8th and Empty moves up a spot to a tie for 11th.  Solid race fellas!

Eh... + Dutch Oven:

Skidmarks and Penguin land in the Oven this week by choosing pole sitter Austin Dillon (24th).  He didn't go from pole sitter to bed shitter but it wasn't a good week.  Skid falls to 3rd dropping 2 spots and out of a tie for 1st.  Penguin falls 3 spots out of the Elite 8 to 11th.

Hashtag, Chonk and Pursuit chose 25th place car Kyle Busch.  Kyle looked like he would challenge for the win, but had tire issues.  Lesser drivers may have wrecked out of the race, but it still earns these guys a spot in the stinky oven.  #Wifey drops 3 spots to 10th and Chonk and Pursuit actually gain a spot to 13th.

BSOTW:  

Truex had a strong car and led the race for a little while.  He's pissed at Logano for getting him loose without even touching him... this ended up in him loosing control and pooping all over his sheets... His 32nd place finish drops Kiss 2 spots to 15th.  

OTHER RAMBLINGS:  

Martinsville in 2 Sundays... We get the weekend off.

It is still early, but it must be nice to have a win or 2 in the bank.  For those of us with 0 wins, is it time to panic a little?  Probably not, but I'm ready to pop my win cherry in Martinsville.

Phoenix Results - Harvick Wins of Course - 7 Teams Get Wins - 2 Teams now Have 2!!!!

Well F*** me running!  And a few others of you that know Kevin Harvick always wins in Phoenix.  Ok; well, he did have to start 18th ish and anything can happen as you try to make your way through the pack, but he practiced well.  But so did the Busch Boys and Hamlin and Blaney for that matter... and those fools all started up front (Kyle on the pole).  And we knew Harvick was going to be the popular pick anyway... And the popular pick has had issues in every race so far this season.  (Truex finished well, but we had the rules controversy that did not result in points being taken away, but still made us nervous).  But all that and probably much more to take into account... Harvick is the master in Phoenix.  F*** me!

We had some shuffling but the worst pick was 10th place Blaney by Graz.  So the real story this week is that 7 of you A-holes of Superior intellect chose Race Winner Kevin Harvick.  Skid, Dust, #Wifey, Ideal, Kiss, Pursuit, and Chonk are the said A-holes of Superior Intellect.  Hashtag and Ideal get wins #2 and are showing us all how simple this League really is.  Skid jumps into a tie for the top spot and Dust moves up a spot within the the Elite 8.  And will you take a f*cking look at this?... The 3 teams in the very back of the pack (Kiss, Pursuit and Chonk) all pick up HUGE wins!!!  Congrats fellas!!!!

For the rest of us... we had a great week.  A top 5 or top 10 is a great week.  Wins guarantee you get into the postseason, but qualifying on points has been done as well.  Even though we don't believe it... good job to the rest of us as well!

Vegas Results - Hashtag Gets His 1st Win - The 2 Rookies are Showing How Simple This League Really Is...

Week 3 in our League from Hell took us to Las Vegas.  Vegas was a busy race with plenty of situations.  Keselowski took the checkered and gave another team a huge win and a step closer to locking in to the postseason.  7 teams had top 10 finishes.  And our most popular pick crapped out, basically flipping the leaderboard in the middle.  

Check out this pic from Ideal who was in Vegas and at the Race; which is the good news I have for him... We'll get to the bad news.

TOP PICKS:

#Wifey took race winner Keselowski.  What a battle of top cars we had this week and hashtag chose wisest.  Keselowski prevailed and gives hashtag a huge win and moved him up 6 spots to 8th!  Congrats amigo... Simple game huh?

Rusty and Piston took the 2nd place car of Logano.  Rusty continues his march to the top (now 3rd) while Piston jumps up 5 spots to 4th.  Good job guys!

Penguin took 5th place finisher Dillon.  I love that this pick actually paid off... Moving Penguin up 5 spots to 6th.  Bam!

Wheels took Harvick who came in 7th.  Talk about simple game... Wheels has owned the top spot for the 1st 3 weeks.  Impressive!

Shepard and Dust took the 9th place car of Kurt Busch.  Shepard moves up 3 spots to 5th and Dust jumps up 6 spots to 7th.  The top picks did well this week!

EH...:

Skidmarks took Newman who came in 13th.  Skidmarks stays in 2nd so no harm done.

DOOTW:

Pursuit took 18th place finisher Edwards.  Pursuit actually jumps up into a tie for last... It could be worse.

BSOTW:

Our most popular pick this week was Kenseth who crashed late and scores a disappointing 37th place finish.  Beef, Graz, Ideal, Empty, Kiss and Chonk all picked him this week... unfortunately.  They all plummet down the leaderboard this week, but it's still early...

Hotlanta Results - JJ gets Ideal a Huge Win!!! Truex gets penalized*

The Folds of Honor Quiktrip 500 in Atlanta was a solid race for many teams... 67% of our teams finished in the top 8.  One Team however did better than the rest.  Four teams could get hosed because their driver and his racing team cheated*... and they were part of the 67% that finished in the top 8.  ...Which really means 40% of the league may have finished in the top 8.  ...which really means we may have a whole lotta shakin' goin' on in the standings... but  what it actually means absolutely nada because why????  That's right... It's SOOOFAAAA KIIIING Early!!!

* Team Truex could win or lose the appeal and we'll adjust the points from there as necessary.  Right now we're scoring it like NASCAR.com has scored it... 35 points for Truex.. this can go to 20 if the penalty holds and is deemed an infraction of:

Rule 4c of the Nascar FantASSy Cup League states:

c)      If NASCAR penalizes a team or driver and takes away points due to an infraction that affected the car's performance, than any team who started that driver will have the same points deducted from their total for that race

i)       If NASCAR takes away points from a driver due to an infraction that did not affect the car's performance (e.g., bumping another driver in the pit, fighting, cursing during an interview, etc.), any team who started that driver will not have points deducted

Top Picks:

 Ideal took race winner Johnson.  Ideal is off to a great start and was a late contender last season.  Looking like it could be a breakthrough year for Ideal Racing.  Great job Ideal!

Beef, Rusty, and Shepard took the 4th Place car of Kurt Busch.  A great time to get one of those Kurt Busch pics out of the way.  A pole sitter finishes strong... and gives you boys a strong week as well.  Bam!

Graz took Carl Edwards (5th).  Another season has begun and Graz is running in the top pack once again.  Boom!

Wheels, Skid, Chonk and Penguin took Truex who finished 7th*.  If the penalty holds it will drop these teams down, but for now it's a nice finish.

Dust took 8th place finisher Chase Elliott.  A ballsy pick from Dust and it pays off.  The new #24 driver looks like he is going to have a great career... I think we will be seeing more Chase Elliott picks in races to come.  Well done Dust!

Eh...:

Empty took Biffle who came in 13th.  Biffle hasn't been very consistent for the last couple of seasons, so a 13th place finish with a Biffle pick is pretty good.

DOOTW:

The Dutch Oven of the Week Award may end up being shared this week between the 7th place car who may have got caught cheating and Jamie McMurray (21st).  Wheels, Skid, Chonk and Penguin took Truex who may be penalized 15 points.  Piston, Kiss and #Wifey took McMurray.

BSOTW:

Pursuit took Newman who gets the Bed Shitter of the Week award with his 24th place finish.  You can't be too pissed about a BSOTW and still finishing in the 20's, but it does drop Pursuit to DFL.

I should start posting my pick early to you guys so you don't pick the same driver as me... that'll save you a little heartache this season.
