Charlotte Results - Edwards gives Asleep and Rasta a huge win!!!!

Last week's race in Charlotte marked the end of the Spring segment of the 2015 season, and it was another eventful race.  We had 2 teams pick up wins, we have a new leader, 9 teams changed positions... we have identified some comers and goers, and some comebackers as we ended the 1st half of the regular season.  NASCAR had the All-Star race a couple of Sundays ago, so I'll try to call out some of our league's All-Stars as we recap last week's race.

Top Picks:

Congrats to Asleep and Rasta who chose race winner Carl Edwards!
  • Asleep grabs his 2nd win and moves into the 8th spot.  He gets back in Club Ocho Primo (COP) for the 1st time since week 1.  He has been as low as 14th, but has bounced back nicely.  8th place with 2 wins, 3 top 5s, and 7 top 10s = All-Star
  • Rasta grabs a much needed 1st win giving him some hope to grab a Chase spot if he can pick 2 more winners.  Only 61 points out of a qualifying spot, he now has multiple paths to the postseason.  Still trying to recover from the Phoenix DQ, Rasta has been hanging out near the bottom for most of the season = All-Star but 1 win, 4 top 5s, and 6 top 10s has kept him within striking distance if he can have a strong 2nd half.

Empty, Skidmarks, Rusty and Penguin chose the 4th place car of Matt Kenseth.
  • Empty takes back the top spot and completes a very strong 1st half never dropping out of the top 4 and spending 4 weeks at #1.  4 of the last 7 weeks to be precise and he has 1 win, 6 top 5s and 8 top 10s = All-Star
  • Skidmarks stays in 3rd where he has been for 6 out of the 12 races thus far.  He has been as high as 2nd and has never been below 6th so far this year and has 1 win, 5 top 5s, and 8 top 10s = All-Star
  • Rusty jumps up 2 spots to 4th.  He has led our league in 5 of the 12 races thus far and has bounced back twice now after falling 4 spots in the standings the previous week... wow!  2 wins in the bank, 7 top 5s and 8 top 10s and has not been below 6th all year = All-Star
  • Penguin jumps up a spot to 9th and is only 7 points out of COP.  Pretty much hanging out in the middle of the pack, but 2 wins, 7 top 5s and 7 top 10s = All-Star (only because of the 2 wins)
Ideal took 5th place finisher Truex Jr.
  • Ideal holds on to 7th place for the 3rd week in a row.  He has been a COP member all season; never dropping below 8th.  2 wins, 7 top 5s, and 8 top 10s = All-Star
Chonk chose the 9th place car of Harvick.
  • Chonk stays in 13th and is 54 points away from COP.  Chonk has had strong finishes for the last 7 of 8 races and that has kept him from needing to go into desperation mode, but 0 wins, 3 top 5s, and 6 top 10s = All-Star
Kiss and Beef took 10th place car Kurt Busch.
  • Kiss holds position in 5th for the 2nd week in a row.  He has led for 2 weeks and has been a member of COP all season... the lowest has been 8th.  He is our only locked in team at the moment.  3 wins, 4 top 5s and 9 top 10s = All-Star
  • Beef actually falls 2 spots to 10th, but is only 10 points out of COP.  He has been as high as 8th, but has bounced up from the bottom of the league nicely.  1 win, 3 top 5s, and 7 top 10s has kept him close to the league elite, but not quite = All-Star

Eh...:

Pursuit took Kahne who finished 12th.

  • Pursuit remains in the basement and has not been above 14th all season long.  He has an important win, but only 3 top 5s and 4 top 10s.  Pursuit will need to put the pedal to the metal if he wants to factor into this thing = All-Star
Graziano, Dust and Shepard took 13th place car Logano.
  • Graz has gained momentum and has been a member of COP for the last 7 races; recovering from a relatively slow start.  He has been 12th and 1st and currently sits in 2nd place.  2 wins, 7 top 5s and 7 top 10s = All-Star
  • Dust drops a spot to 5th but he is another driver who has been in COP all season.  He has been as high as 2nd and as low as 7th.  Dust has 0 wins, 5 top 5s and 8 top 10s... the lack of wins is probably a concern, but Dust has been a solid team so far = All-Star
  • Shepard jumps up a spot to 11th and is only 26 points away from COP.  Shepard has been as high a 7th but has stayed close to COP all season.  11th place, 1 win, 3 top 5s and 6 top 10s = All-Star

DOOTW/BSOTW:

Team Piston took Larson (25th).  Piston drops a spot to 12th.  25th is not a bad BSOTW, but Piston has been hanging out in the lower pack for most of the season.  They have a win, 3 top 5s and 5 top 10s and are only 38 points out of COP.  = All-Star

Other Ramblings:

Dover this week on Sunday.

Sorry for the strikethrough All-Star for those who din't make the team... For the most part no one's Chase health would be RED at the moment... everyone has options to get into the Chase.

Good luck on the 2nd half of the regular season fellas!

Cheers!

Kansas Results... Johnson Wins! Graziano gets 2nd win in a row!!

Kansas was yet another active week for our League.  Lots of shuffling in the top 10.  After Dega, we already had our first team locked into the Chase but another joins the 2 win group this week... which now contains 4 teams.  As expected, we have some comers and goers as we near the end of the Spring segment of the League.  Let's get to it...

TOP PICKS:
Graziano took race winner Jimmie Johnson to grab his 2nd win in a row!  He also takes the lead by 4 points and looks like a lock to make the postseason this year.  Graz started slow this year, but has been a member of Club Ocho Primo for the last 6 races.  Awesome work Graziano!!!

Chonk took 2nd place finisher Harvick.  Harvick was a strong pick and Chonk was going for the win, but check out our once 15th place team as he now has Club Ocho Primo realistically in his sights.  Chonk gains 15 points on 8th this week and is heading in the right direction as we near the end of the Spring portion of the season.  Boom!

Ideal took the 4th place car of Gordon.  He stays in 7th but widens the gap on 8th by another 12 points... now 25 points clear.  And he has 2 wins... life is good for Ideal!

Beef's 5th place Logano pick has him sitting pretty in the final Club Ocho Primo spot.  He jumps up 1 spot this week.  Beef had a slow start to the season but has hung out in the middle of the pack up till now and is looking to make a strong title defense* run during the 2nd half of the regular season.  Way to go Beef!

Asleep's 6th place Kenseth pick has him up to 9th and just 2 points out of Club Ocho Primo.  Like Beef he has hung out in the lower middle of the pack, but with 1 win and within striking distance of the qualifying spot... Asleep is looking poised to make a nice run as well.  Simple game!

Shepard took 7th place Keselowski.  Shepard stays in 12th with one win.  He has tasted the sweetness of Club Ocho Primo this year a few times and is only 13 points away from a seat in the VIP section once again.  Good week Shepard.

Our most popular pick of the week went to most laps led racer Truex Jr (9th).  It could have been better but Truex gets a nice points day for our 3rd place team Skidmarks, 4th place team Dust, 5th place team Kiss, 11th place team Piston, and our last place team Pursuit.  Skid, Dust and Kiss each gain a spot while Piston and Pursuit hold on to their positions.  A win would have been nice but all in all a nice points day.  Must be nice...

EH.../DOOTW/BSOTW:
Empty took 17th place Kahne to bring home the Eh.../DOOTW award this week.  17th place is usually not too bad, but Empty loses the top spot, but is still quite okay... more of an Eh... pick than a DOOTW.

Rusty (6th), Penguin (10th), and Rasta (14th) took Bed Shitter Edwards who finished 20th.  Rusty drops 4 spots, but has 2 wins.  He is fading away a little as we near the end of the Spring session... let's see if he can rebound.  Penguin drops 2 spots and is out of Club Ocho Primo.. again.  Definitely fading away, but with 2 wins it is not time to panic just yet.  Rasta loses a spot and has yet to grab a win, so he'll need to get his shit together during the summer section of the season... Time to move in the other direction fellas!

OTHER RAMBLINGS:

Charlotte this week will end the Spring part of the season.

Some teams will look to continue their momentum while others will search to gain any momentum they can in the last Spring race.  I am planning on using Charlotte as a spring board to a nice 2nd half of the regular season and on into the Chase... I remember last year, so hopefully history will not be repeated for me.

Good luck to all and I hope to see everyone in the Chase this year!  If Tony Stewart can make the All-Star Race... why shouldn't we all be in the Chase.  I need to Google how the f*ck the drivers get selected... Danika was a fan pick no-brainer, but Stewart???  Is he doing better on some secret point scale???  He's freaking 30th in driver points ferchryst'ssake!!!  Anyway...

Cheers!

Talladega Days!!! Jr. Wins!!! Graziano gets 1st win... Kiss is IN!!!

Talladega was a great race if you were named after your father.... unless your girlfriend is a better race car driver than you are... Dale Jr gets the win Truex Jr gets 5th and Sam Hornish Jr gets 6th.  Danicky gets a 26th, but it is definitely worth recognizing the Jrs.  I'm late getting this posted so let's get to it...

Top Picks:

Graziano and Kiss took race winner Dale Jr.  Graziano moves into the 3rd position jumping up 4 spots with his 1st win of the season while Kiss moves up 2 spots to 6th.  Kiss more importantly gets win #3 and is now locked into this year's Chase.  Awesome job guys!!!

Empty took Truex Jr. (5th), jumps up 2 spots and is back in the lead.  Empty continues a very solid start to this season... I think his tank is full.  Congrats on another great week.

Eh...:

Dust, Beef, Asleep, and Chonk took 11th place McMurray.  Dust (5th) loses a spot, Beef (9th) jumps up 2 spots and is only 12 points out of Club Ocho Primo , Asleep (10th) jumps up 2 spots and is only 13 points away from Club Ocho Primo, and Chonk gains another spot and is now tied for 13th.  On a week with so much carnage, this was a pretty nice pick.  Good job fellas!

Ideal took 19th Place Tony Stewart.  Ideal drops 2 spots and is now in 7th.  2 wins and a member of COP (Club Ocho Primo)... he's looking strong.

DOOTW:

Bowyer was chosen by some top teams but got caught up in a late wreck while driving in the top 10.  Rusty drops a spot and is now in 2nd, Skid drops 2 spots to 4th, Penguin drops 2 spots to 8th, and Pursuit stays at the bottom in 15th...  it could have been worse.

BSOTW:

Rasta (T13th) took 34th place Kahne.  Kahne had a good car but another disappointing finish only gives Rasta a little comfort as he has the least amount of poo in the bed... but he has poo in the bed nonetheless...

Piston (11th) and Shepard (12th) chose the new car 55 driver David Ragan... the future is bright for this young man, but Talladega was dark and stinky.   Ragan came home in 38th and has the most poo between the sheets this week.  Both piston and Shepard drop 2 spots and they each have a win this season... their future could be looking bright as well if they can grab a quick win or string together a few top finishes.

Other Ramblings:

Kansas tomorrow night... tonight actually.

Sorry for the late post guys... I am hoping to get back to a normal schedule real soon.

Good Luck to all!

Cheers!
