Phoenix Results - Newman wins race, Logano wins stage 1, Elliott wins Stage 2

Hola mofos!  Well we still have some things up in the air with the penalty ruling for Keselowski and Harvick, but I need to get this post out tonight.  I'll react on the site to whatever the rules committee decides and leave it at that for now.

Freaking Newman right?  Go figure on that one...I thought Larson was going to take him at the end but Stenhouse had to get in the way and slow Larson's momentum and robbing Penguin and Pursuit of a win.

NOTE:  I'm going to have to change up the way I recap the races as finishing position is not the only factor anymore.  You could have taken Stenhouse who finished 4th but he had 13 fewer points than Keselowski who came in 5th as it stands now.

TOP PICKS:

LARSON was the TOP PICK and Penguin (6th) and Pursuit (7th) took him.  Even though he failed to get us any bonus points for the Chase, it was a solid points day for sure... 53 points to be exact.   Congratulations guys!

Shepard (4th) took Kyle Busch who collected 47 points.  Shepard is off to a nice start this year.  Spinning (3rd) grabbed 46 points with her Keselowski pick.  Kiss (10th) took Elliott who earned 42 points and a potential Bonus point for winning Stage 2.  Well done!

EH...:

Chonk (17th), Skid (1st) and Retired (13th) took Phoenix guru Harvick who had his struggles but brought it home in 6th.  Nice finish but he only earned 32 points for the race... 21 points behind the top pick.  Let's Go (13th) and Chicken (5th) took Dale Jr. Who earned 24 points.

DOOTW:

Logano was great for stage 1 but fell off and ultimately slammed into the wall and finished with 16 points.  He did earn a potential Bonus point for Beef (15th), Rusty (9th), Fast (2nd), Graziano (16th), Ideal (8th), and Dust (11th), but they are stuck in the stinky oven this week.

BSOTW:

Piston (12th) took Kurt Busch who earned just 12 points.  He also looked strong early but a speeding penalty did him in.

BONUS POINTS AND WINS:

Shepard 5 bonus points and 1 win.
Skidmarks 5 bonus points and 1 win.
Fast Wheels 4 bonus points and 1 win.
Piston 2 bonus points.
Rusty 3 bonus points.
Kiss 1 bonus point.

Graziano 1 bonus point.
Ideal 1 bonus point.
Dust 1 bonus point.

OTHER RAMBLINGS:

FONTANA this weekend on Sunday.

I'm liking the huge point swings that can happen under the new format.  As someone who usually leads the League in BSOTW awards, this gives me hope that I'm never going to be out of it if I can bounce back well after a stinky week.

As far as the site goes, I'm really liking it.  I think it gives us a chance to interact a little more..I wish it would add a few more reports or data like spots gained and lost each week, but overall it's been a nice change for us.  Those that have given me feedback have all been positive.

Las Vegas Results... And Atlanta flashback too

VEGAS RESULTS:

Truex dominated Vegas winning both stages and the race.  Shepard and Skidmarks picked him so they join Fast Wheels with their 1st win!  Plus they get 5 huge bonus points if they qualify for the Chase in the top 8 spots!  Skidmarks has another solid week as he took 3rd place car Elliot last week.  While Shepard bounces back from the DOOTW pick Newman in Atlanta. Congratulations guys!

The rest of us finished in the top 10, except for DOOTW Chonk (Kahne 12th), and BSOTW league rookies Retired and Let's Go (Newman 17th)... Not bad for those awards but considering a 9th place Kenseth pick puts you finishing 30 points (WOW!) behind the race winner... It was a bad day at the race track.

ATLANTA RECAP:

League rookies Fast Wheels took race winner Keselowski taking home a win plus 3 bonus points if they qualify for the Chase in one of the top 8 positions.  Congratulations guys!

Skid, Ideal, Rusty, Piston, Rusty, Rookie Sexy, and Rookie Retired all had a solid points day as well.

Let's Go, Beef, Kiss, Pursuit, and Graziano had an Eh... Kind of day.

Spinning and Shepard got the DOOTW in Atlanta.

Penguin and Chonk get the BSOTW with their Dale Jr pick.


OTHER RAMBLINGS:

So where does that leave us???

League Rookies and the spawn of Rusty Truck are leading us!  That is awesome!  But can it last???

Seasoned veteran Skidmarks is running 2nd.  No surprise there.

Another Rookie, Sexy Chicken is running 3rd.  Not bad.

Last year's 2nd place finisher Chonk is running in last place after a rough start to 2017.  It's early... I don't think he'll stay back there.

One thing is for sure, the stages are making it very interesting...A lot of points can be gained or lost in one race, so nobody should be feeling cocky right about now.
