Indy Results - Kyle Busch does it again - Shepard get win #2!!! oh yeah, and we have a new Leader!!!

Hola mfers!!!  So the "drama" of Kyle B. making the Chase is a distant memory, but our little League's drama is building.  We have over half of the teams locked in so far; 8 to be exact... but that doesn't tell the whole story.  5 of the 8 teams in Club Ocho Primo are locked in.  That leaves 3 teams still fighting to get those 3 wins or finish well enough to stay in the Club.... those teams are 5th, 7th and 8th.  To make it even more interesting, 9th and 10th place are also not-locked-in teams at the moment.  With 6 races to go, Chonk could still make it in on points if he has a few huge weeks.  Let's get to it...

TOP PICKS:

Shepard took race winner Kyle Busch and gets his 2nd huge win.  He gains a spot and is now in 9th just 17 points out of Club Ocho Primo.  Congrats on a nece week Shepard!  Keep it going!  CHASE HEALTH

Piston took Harvick who brought it home in 3rd.  A nice points day for Team Piston who jump up a spot to 7th with their 2 wins.  They are 29 points clear of 8th.  CHASE HEALTH  That's Green before Yellow... which is better than Yellow before Green.

Kiss (4th) and his 5 wins took Kurt Busch (8th).  CHASE HEALTH

Skidmarks, Rusty, Graziano, Penguin, and Asleep took this week's most popular pick Lar Son!!  Who came in 9th.  Skid takes over the #1 spot CHASE HEALTH Rusty stays in 3rd CHASE HEALTH Graziano drops a spot to 10th CHASE HEALTH Penguin stays in 11th CHASE HEALTH and Asleep stays in 13th CHASE HEALTH

EH...:

Beef (6th with 4 wins) took Edwards 13th.  CHASE HEALTH

Ideal, Dust and Chonk took Indy Dominator Jimmie Johnson who came home in a disappointing 15th place. Ideal stays in 5th and has 2 wins and is 32 points clear of 9th, but is not resting easy I am sure. CHASE HEALTH
Dust drops down to 8th just 17 points clear of 9th with only 1 win.  CHASE HEALTH
Chonk drops out of a tie for 13th to 14th with only one win and 59 points out of Club Ocho Primo.  Not impossible, but my most sexy pick submitter needs to grab a couple of wins down the backstretch.  CHASE HEALTH

Pursuit took McMurray and is cruising into the Chase... it would be good for him to make it in the Club, but I think he may coast in and save his drivers for the show.  CHASE HEALTH

DOOTW/BSOTW:

Empty tooted under the covers with a little shart in the bed to boot with his 28th place Tony Stewart pick.  Empty will be fine...  CHASE HEALTH

OTHER RAMBLINGS:

Pocono this week on Sunday with Kyle Busch on the pole... that dude is on fire!!!

Keep an eye on those not-locked-in teams.

Cheers!

New Hampshire Results - Kyle Busch Wins Again - 5 Teams Celebrate!!!

Hola Amigos!  Well well well... we witnessed another eventful race last Sunday in New Hampshire. And after the burn out smoke has cleared and all of the water bottles have been picked up, we are left with a little shake up in our League.  We'll get to that in a minute, but first let's talk about Kyle Busch's continued surge to that 30th place Chase spot.  3 wins in the last 4 races has now pulled him to within 58 points of that 30th spot... with 7 races to go.  I think he'll make it with no issues at this point... Gilliand, Whitt and Moffitt are standing in his way, but these guys are not very consistent... Hell, he may make it up to 25th by the time the Chase starts.

Let's get to it.

TOP PICKS:

Race winner Kyle Busch was picked by 5 teams.  3 of which get their HUGE 3rd wins while the other 2 get their 4th and 5th wins.  The Kyle Busch pick gains 34 points on League leader Empty.. Skidmarks (2nd) is now just 13 points away and is locked in to the Chase with his 3rd win.  Rusty (3rd) is now only 20 points back and also gets that 3rd win.  Look at Kiss!  Up 3 huge spots to 4th and grabs his 5th win... wow!  Penguin up 1 spot to 11th, but more importantly gets that 3rd win... should I coast now or try to grab a Club Ocho Primo spot??  Same question for Pursuit up 1 spot to 12th, but now has 4 wins and that would translate into some nice Bonus points if he were to make his way into Club Ocho Primo.  If not... no credit for those wins other than a spot in the Chase of course.  Congratulations Fellas your Chase Health is GREEN!

Chonk (13th) took 4th place finisher Logano.  He moves up a spot to 13th but is 56 points away from a Chase spot with just one win... he needed Logano to get the win here for sure.
Congratulations on a good week but Chonk's Chase Health is RED.

Ideal, Piston and Shepard took 7th place Edwards.  Ideal moves up a spot to 5th and has 2 wins... a 3rd win here would have been nice, but Ideal's Chase Health is GREEN.  Piston stays in 8th and has 2 wins.  Chase Health is GREEN.  Shepard stays in 10th, is 32 points back from 8th, and has 1 win.  Chase Health is YELLOW.

EH...:

Asleep took McMurray who finished 26th.  Asleep drops down to a tie for 13th but is locked in with those 3 wins.  Chase Health is GREEN.

DOOTW:

Empty (1st) and Beef 6th) took 31st place finisher Larson.  Empty holds on to the top spot, but his lead has shrunk considerably... I think he's just saving his stuff for the Green White Checkered.  Beef dropped 2 spots to 6th.  Our defending Champ**** knows the value of those Bonus points, so I'm sure he's planning a big rebound week in Indianapolis.  They may be stinky in the oven this week, but both of these teams' Chase Health are GREEN.

BSOTW:

Dust (7th) and Graziano (9th) took Bowyer (34th).  Dust drops 2 spots to 7th.  With just 1 win but 34 points clear of 9th Dust's Chase Health is a cautious GREEN.   Graziano stays in 9th but loses ground on that 8th place spot.  Graziano has plenty of races left to get that 3rd win and is just 31 points from 8th, so there are still options on how he gets into the Postseason.  Graz's Chase Health is a strong YELLOW.

I guess Bowyer doesn't only hate me...

OTHER RAMBLINGS:

Indianapolis this week on Sunday.

We have 8 teams locked in thus far and 5 of them currently have VIP Seats in Club Ocho Primo.  The 3 teams in Club Ocho have been strong all year, but could technically fall out of the Chase in 1 race.  The opposite can happen for 2 of the 3 less than 3 win teams outside of Club Ocho Primo.  Let's see if these teams can finish strong and get locked in over the next 7 races.

For those locked in... do you go for the Bonus points or save your stuff for the Chase???  Of course it depends on where you are in the standings, but for all teams it is not that straightforward.

Usually when I start mulling over the possibilities, you guys log a bunch of wins and throw my analysis out the window... let's hope that is the case in Indy.

...It is nice to be back in the Chase after taking last year off!

Good luck to all!

Cheers!

Kenfucky Results - Kyle Busch gets another win - Lots of smart teams celebrate!

We were treated to another great race last Saturday as we draw nearer to the Chase.  Kyle Busch gets even closer to making the Chase... he's actually cut that 136 point deficit down to 87... 49 points in 2 races.  He looks like he may actually pull it off!  Go Kyle???

Anyway... this race was Kyle Busch vs. Brad Keselowski... Kyle won.  Empty (1st) and Pursuit (13th) get that huge 3rd win!  Beef (4th) gets win #4 and Dust (5th)!  Must be nice!

Brad K. (6th) didn't finish bad, but it could have been better.  Trouble in the pits derailed his car that could have challenged for the win... It wasn't meant to be and Ideal (6th), Piston (8th), and Graziano (9th) didn't get their 3rd win.  Shepard (10th) and Chonk (14th) stay on the outside looking in with just 1 win.  A good points day fellas, but the win would have been sweeter I'm sure.

There were a few other picks... one was good and the others... not so much.

Kiss and his 4 wins took Gordon who finished 7th... Kiss drops a spot to 7th.  A strong pick for a locked in Chaser.

Rusty took Truex (17th)... he stays in 3rd and is still looking for that 3rd win.  This eh... pick was not too bad for Rusty.

Locked in Chaser Asleep took Newman who finished 20th.  Asleep stays in 11th... we'll see if he takes a run at Club Ocho Primo.

Skidmarks and Penguin were the biggest losers with their 35th place Kyle Larson pick.  Skid staysin 2nd but gets further away from Empty while Penguin falls 2 spots to 12th and further away from Club Ocho Primo.

New Hampshire this week.

Good luck to all!

Cheers!

Daytona Results - JR Delivers!!!

It was a wild ride at Daytona for Austin Dillon and I'm happy to see that he made it out alive and well.  I don't think I'll never understand restrictor plate racing, but I cannot argue against the fact that it produces some spectacular wrecks.  Dale Jr. dominated the race... he had a couple of challengers, but no one could match his restarts.  A green, white, checker was a simple game for Jr. and the carnage that followed the black and white flag was just for show and mostly pointless when you really think about it.  Maybe a few people in the stands settle out of court for a few bucks for their thankfully minor injuries, so there's that...

TOP PICKS:

Anyway, Kiss, Piston, Asleep, Chonk and Pursuit took Jr and get big wins.  I knew he was good, but with the qualifying being rained out it was hard to tell how good he would be at the green flag.  Kiss now has 4 wins and jumps up 2 spots to 6th.  Piston (8th) gets their 2nd win and jump back into Club Ocho Primo.  Asleep get a huge 3rd win while moving up a spot to 11th.  Chonk (13th) gets a much needed 1st win while Pursuit (14th) gets win #2 while increasing his odds to make the Chase.  Congratulations guys!!!

Our 2nd (Skidmarks) and 3rd (Rusty) place teams took Austin Dillon's wild ride to a 7th place finish.  They hold their position but inch ever closer to the top spot.

Beef (4th), Dust (+1 to 5th), and Penguin (10th) took 10th place finisher Bowyer.  As hard as I am on Bowyer, I actually thought he may pull this thing off...  I obviously had no idea that Jr. would be so strong.

EH...:

Shepard took 14th place Tony Stewart and drops a spot to 11th and is 32 points away from 8th with 1 win.

Empty and Ideal took 15th place finisher McMurray.  Empty stays in 1st but loses a little of his buffer between he a Skidmarks.  Ideal drops 2 spots to 7th.

DOOTW/BSOTW:

Graziano took 20th place finisher Biffle.  Not a bad DOOTW or BSOTW finish, but this pick does drop Graz and his 2 wins 2 spots to 9th and is now 3 points out of Club Ocho Primo.

Other Ramblings:

Saturday night race in Kentucky this week.

Only 9 races to go before the Chase... so everyone better get their shit together.  Whether you're locked in and going for Bonus points, or in the top 8 and trying to hang on, or on the outside looking in with a few points to make up to get in or a win or 2 away from locking in... all better be paying attention to your picks in the races coming up.

Good luck to all as we near the Chase!

Cheers!

Sonoma Shuffle - Kyle Busch Wins but Nobody Picked Him

Happy Independence Day Eve Amigos!  It's my wife's birthday so I'll make it quick this week.  I'm not a huge Kyle Busch fan, but I think it's a cool story watching him try to make the Chase... the win helped for sure, but he'll have to break the top 30.  He's currently in 37th, but 136 points away.  It'll be fun to watch him go for it... go Kyle???

Top Picks:

Ideal took brother Kurt Busch.  Ideal rebounds from last race's BSOTW and moves up 3 spots to 5th.  Kurt led a bunch of laps but had to use up all his stuff to get back up front... he made it but couldn't pass lil bro.

Empty and Skidmarks took 3rd Place Bowyer.  These 2 teams stay locked into a nice battle for the top spot.  Usually racing side by side allows the other cars to catch up, but not these 2 boys... they are leaving us in the dust.  They are lucky that the Penguin didn't pick him for this race.  :)

Eh....:

Rusty, Piston, Penguin and Shepard took 16th place Gordon.  Shuffled to the back of the lead lap pack, Gordon had to make a big move to get back up front.  But in the end 16th was a good finish for this team as he was just trying to hang on against cars with fresher tires.  Rusty stays in 3rd, Piston stays in 9th, Penguin and Shepard each gain a spot (10th and 11th respectively).

DOOTW/BSOTW:

This is kind of a tie as both picks were brutal for these teams.  AJ was the top pick this week.  Beef, Dust, Graziano, Kiss, Asleep, and Chonk all took him.  For Beef it's not a big deal, he stays in 4th and has 3 wins.  Dust drops a spot to 6th, but has 0 wins... hurts a little.  Graz drops a spot to 7th and was looking for that 3rd win... hurts a little.  Kiss drops a spot to 8th, but has 3 wins... he's in but wants to stay in Club Ocho Primo for those extra Bonus points... hurts a little.  Asleep drops 2 spots to 12th... he has 2 wins and still only 41 points away from Club Ocho Primo, but this hurts as he may be close to changing his strategy for getting into the Chase.  Chonk and his 0 wins actually gain a spot, but he is in serious trouble.

Pursuit took Edwards who crashed into Ragan while battling for like 5th and 6th pretty late in the race... Edwards took most of the blame, but that doesn't make it any easier for Pursuit.  He has 1 win, so one could argue that he's in a slightly better position than Chonk.  Still in trouble though.

Other Ramblings:

Daytona on Sunday... Another crap shoot??

10 races to go and I'm already feeling the pressure to get my last win.  I'm not too far away from Club Ocho Primo but my Bed Shitting Penguin ass could blow a tire at any moment.  I want that last win damnit!  What are you guys thinking?

Happy Independence Day!!!

Cheers!
