Richmond Results... More Short Track Shaking...

Another short track race has come and gone, and another week of shuffling has taken place.  No team picked race winner Kurt Busch, but many teams had a nice points day.  The Eh...'s, DOOTW, and BSOTW picks were not too terrible, but there was plenty movement in the standings after Richmond... let's get to it.

TOP PICKS:

Skidmarks took McMurray who finished 4th.  Skid jumps up a spot into 2nd and is just 6 points out of the top spot.  Skidmarks has hung around the top all season long and looks quite comfortable at the head of the pack.  Congratulations on another strong week Skidmarks!

Penguin and Chonk took pole sitter and 5th place finisher Logano.  Penguin jumps up 3 spots to 6th and is back into Club Ocho Primo!  Chonk jumps up one spot and is out of the basement where he has sat for the last 5 races.  Our reigning champ* is sitting 71 points out of 8th and 115 points back overall with 0 wins and will need to put a nice run together to get himself in position to defend his title*.  Let's see if he will be one of those teams to make a run as we near the end of the Spring semester of our league.  Well done guys!

Dust and Rasta took 7th place Kenseth.  Dust moves up a spot into 4th.  Dust has been a member of Club Ocho Primo all season long... his low has been 7th and his high 2nd.  Zero wins though... so he'll have to keep it up or start getting some wins to ensure his postseason spot.  Rasta stays in 13th and is still trying to recover from his DQ in Phoenix.  2 top 5's and a Top 10 since the DQ has helped him get to within shouting distance of Club Ocho Primo... can he string a few more top finishes together???   Let's see.  Nice job fellas!

Asleep took Bowyer who had a nice 9th place finish.  Asleep is only 24 points out of Club Ocho Primo and 68 points out overall... he has 1 win and could possibly be in 5th within 1 race under the right circumstances.  A few more solid races will make a difference for this team for sure.  Keep it up Asleep!

EH...:

Rusty, Ideal, and Piston took 17th place finisher Brad K.  Rusty remains in 1st and is still 6 points clear of 2nd with 2 wins.  Ideal stays in 5th with 2 wins and Piston jumps up a spot to 9th... just 5 points out of Club Ocho Primo with 1 win.  No harm really for this so so finish by one of the race favorites.

DOOTW:

Kiss the wall took 19th place finisher Edwards.  This is really an Eh... finish since Kiss only loses one spot (8th), but he is only 5 points clear of 9th place.  Kiss has 2 wins, so no panic for this team.

BSOTW:

Hamlin's 22nd place finish gives Empty (3rd), Graziano (7th), Shepard (10th), Beef (11th), Pursuit (15th) the BSOTW award this week.  Empty (1 win) drops a spot for the 2nd week in a row... notable since he was in 1st just 2 races ago.  Graz (0 wins) drops 3 spots to 7th just 7 points clear of 9th.  Shepard (1 win) drops 2 spots and is now out of Club Ocho Primo.  Beef (1 win) stays in 11th and is just 23 points out of Club Ocho Primo.  Pursuit (1 win) drops 1 spot and has taken over the basement from Chonk.  76 points out of 8th and  120 points back overall... Pursuit will need to make a high Speed rally to become a factor in this thing...

Having said all of that... I would take a 22nd place BSOTW any day.

Other Ramblings:

Talladega this Sunday... another shake up possibility???

1st through 8th could still swap places... 5th through 12th could also, so we are still in the same place as we were last week as far as that goes.

Good luck on Sunday during the crap shoot fellas!

Cheers!

Bristol Results - Shake it up Baby!

Sometimes I hate being a genius... especially when my bold predictions impact me negatively... Wait a second... if I were truly a genius, I would know who is going to shit the bed and not pick the bed shitter with the most poo when I know things will shake up.  I guess I need to hone my genius skills a little.

Anyhoo... Bristol did not disappoint if you wanted to see things get rearranged.  A few teams got wins, a couple of teams did okay, a couple of teams were held under the covers and crop dusted, while over half of the league dreamt they were using their asses to rocket themselves around the night sky; only to awake in a bed full of poo.  Let's get to it.

TOP PICKS:

Rusty, Shepard, and Piston showed who are the true geniuses by picking the pole-sitter and eventual race winner Matt Kenseth.  Rusty jumps back into 1st place after falling out of the top spot a couple of races ago.  He also gets his 2nd win and is looking to be a lock for the post season.  Shepard's 1st win jumps him up 3 spots into that highly coveted 8th place position and is back in Club Ocho Primo.  Team Piston also gets their 1st win as they jump up 2 spots into 10th... just 4 points away from Club Ocho Primo!  Well done fellas and congrats on a great week!

EH...:

Skidmarks and Graziano chose 15th place Kurt Busch... this Eh... pick probably feels like a Top Pick given the circumstances this week.  These two Club Primo Ocho Members moved up to 3rd (Skid) and 4th (Graz) and jumped up 3 and 4 spots respectively while gracefully dodging all of the carnage.  I wish my Eh... picks were this good.  Well done guys!

DOOTW:

Running on Empty loses his hold on the top spot with his 24th place Edwards pick.  Empty drops only 1 spot with his Dutchy pick, so it could be worse... see Rasta and BSOTW below.  I think Empty will be just fine...

Rasta stays put in 13th with his 26th place Hamlin pick... Rasta's Hamlin pick is still better than half the league this week, even if Hamlin climbed out of the car during the rain delay and was replaced by an Xfinity Series stud.  However with a big 0 in the win column, Rasta will need to start turning it on if he plans to be a factor this year.

BSOTW:

Least Poo in Bed goes to 35th place finisher Brad K and Beef (11th), Pursuit (14th) and Chonk (15th)... these teams are not off to great starts this year, but there is still 18 races to go until the Chase.  Beef and Pursuit have 1 win each while Chonk has a big goose egg... time to hit the one on the right boys.

Most Poo in Bed goes to 37th place finisher and the fastest car in practice Kahne and Dust (T 5th), Ideal (T 5th), Kiss (7th), Penguin (9th), and Asleep (12th).  Dust and Ideal drop 3 spots from 2nd to 5th... Not really a big deal as they can definitely bounce back, but they are only 13 points ahead of 9th place... it's early.  Kiss drops 2 spots to 7th, but remains in Club Ocho Primo... so he has that going for him... which is nice.  Penguin falls out of Club Ocho Primo again, but is only 3 points out with 2 wins... so we're not sure which way he will f*ck this thing up this year.  Asleep is probably the most soiled with this pick as he sits in 12th with 1 win... no spots were lost, but a nice points day could have moved him a little closer to his happy place.  Practice???

Other Ramblings:

Another short track and another Saturday night race this week.

We are only 8 races into the 2015 season and it has been an eventful start.  A few teams may feel like they need to hit the panic button, but mostly everything is fairly bunched up.  1st through 7th could change in 1 race, 5th through 12th could do the same.  What we need to remember is that this league is all about runs... just like NASCAR.  Any team at this stage could put together 5 strong weeks or 5 shitty weeks and change their position in this league.  Trust me I know this all too well.  With 4 weeks until the Spring Semester is over for this season, it will be interesting to see if any teams make one of these runs that will set their stage for the rest of the season.  I'm guessing the answer will be multiple yeses.

Strap in and hang on boys... it's getting pretty good!

Cheers!

Texas Results!!! Johnson gives Penguin a 2nd Win!!!

It was a nice points day in Texas for most teams, but one particular Texas team added another win to their collection.  That would be Penguin, who stays in 7th with this week.  That shows you how well everyone else did in Texas.  In fact 80% of the league had top 10 picks.  It will be an easy summary this week...

Top Picks/Eh.../DOOTW/BSOTW:

Empty stays in 1st.  Dust (T2nd) moves up 2 spots, Ideal (T2nd) and Rusty (3rd) because of Skidmarks' DOOTW pick of Kenseth.  Kenseth still finishes 23rd, so if you're going to have a DOOTW pick... this is the way to do it.  Skid (6th) drops 4 spots, but is still in Club Ocho Primo.  Asleep's eh... pick of Kurt Busch (14th) doesn't really hurt too much... Piston (12th) loses a spot to Shepard with his BSOTW Larson pick.  Larson finishes 25th... cut and paste the Kenseth DOOTW comments here.  I wish my BSOTW picks were 25th.

Other Ramblings:

Bristol tomorrow then another Saturday race in Richmond.

Short tracks always seem to shake things up for us... let's see what Bristol has in store.

Good luck amigos!

Cheers!

Martinsville Results - Hamlin gets Ideal a 2nd Win!!!! We have a new Leader!!!

Happy Easter Racing Fans!  Or should I say Hoppy Easter???

Lots of action this week in Martinsville... we have a new leader, Ideal gets a 2nd win, some new members of the top 8 club, some members get ejected from the top 8 club.... Let's get to it.

TOP PICKS:

Ideal took Hamlin (1st) and gets his 2nd win of this young season and looks to be a lock for the postseason.  Ideal jumps up 4 spots into 3rd place.  He has finished in the top 5 in 5 out of the 1st 6 races this season.  The odd finish was a BSOTW, so it just goes to show you that you can stink it up and still stay in the mix.  Nice job Ideal!

Graziano chose 4th place finisher Kenseth.  Graziano cracks the top 8 club after getting off to a slow start in the 1st 2 races.  4 top 5 finishes in a row have given Graz some nice momentum and has him sitting in a nice spot in the early part of the season.  Well done Graz!

A shitload of teams (8 of 15) took 9th place Gordon.  Gordon could have finished in the high 20's in this race, but battled back for a nice 9th place finish.   This was a great pick for some and an eh pick for others.

  • Empty for example moves into 1st place Skidmarks right on his bumper in 2nd.  Both of those teams move up 1 spot.  Empty has been steady in the 1st part of the season; his lowest finish has been 12th and the rest have all been top 10's... including a win and two 3rd place finishes.  Skid is almost identical with his lowest being 14th.  Let's see if they can keep it going.  Dust stays in 4th and Kiss moves into a tie for 5th (up 1 spot).  Dust has had 1 stumble in Atlanta (26th), but has surrounded it with four top 5's and a top 10 finish... no wins yet though.  Kiss has a similar path to Ideal so far this year.  2 wins, 1 BSOTW, and the rest in the top 5 and top 10.  Nice job guys!

  • Beef took Gordon, but actually fell out of the top 8 club.  Beef has recovered nicely from the Daytona BSOTW and sits in 9th just 3 points out of 8th.  Asleep gains a spot and moves to 10th.  Asleep has rebounded nicely from a slow start... 4 top pick finishes in a row have him looking to make some noise as we move forward this season.  Shepard stays in 12th with this pick.  It has been an up and down year for Shepard thus far, but this seasoned vet will be in the mix at the end for sure*.  Chonk has been laying the sod over the golf ball so far this year.  But 2 nice finishes in consecutive weeks has shown that he has not thrown his clubs in the pond and driven his cart through the putting green on his way to the parking lot.  69 points back from 8th and no wins is not Ideal (pun intended), but it is still Sofa King early.
*Hopefully for sure...

EH...:

Piston took 17th place Edwards.  I'm sure this feels like a DOOTW to team Piston as they fall 3 spots to 11th and out of the top 8 club.  Piston recovered from a slow start and worked their way up the leaderboard... hopefully this does not break their momentum.

Pursuit took 20th place Stewart.  Pursuit stays in 14th with this pick.  2 BSOTWs so far and a couple of Eh's/DOOTWs have him off to a rough start.  But this is the only team in the bottom 5 with a win under their belt, so it is not as bad as we think.

DOOTW:

Penguin gets a nice top 27 finish from Mr. F*cking Consistency (Newman)... Penguin drops 2 spots to 7th.  But 4 top 5's with 2 DOOTWs have him sitting in the top 8 for at least another week.  Penguin hates talking about himself in the 3rd person.

BSOTW:

Rasta takes Johnson 35th and Rusty takes Dale Jr. 36th to grab the BSOTW honors this week.  Rasta remains in the lucky 13th spot... 1 DOOTW, 2 BSOTW including a DQ, but 2nd, 3rd, and 10th place finishes are keeping him out of the basement so far this year.  Rusty has the most poo this week... he loses his grip on the top spot and falls 4 spots into a tie for 5th.  However, Rusty has been solid so far this year posting 4 top 5 finishes including a win and  a top 10.  This week's BSOTW being the only blemish to his record in the early part of the season.

Other Ramblings:

We got the week off this week with the TEXAS Duck Commander 500 next Saturday night.  If Phil Robertson starts preaching about homos (no offense) during the invocation I vote we secede Monroe, Louisiana from the union.

I need to come up with a better name for the top 8 club... Elite 8?  Primo Ocho?

As we cross the 1st checkpoint of the season, it looks like we will have to perform at a high level to take the Championship this year.  A couple of teams already have 2 wins, the league is pretty well bunched up in the top 11 to 12 spots, and a few teams have stalled in the pits.  Our next checkpoint will be in 5 races, we have 3 Saturday races over those 5 races...  Will there be any DQs?  Will we see any strategy changes this early in the season?  It has always been interesting to watch it unfold, and I think this year will be no different.  Good luck fellas!

Happy Easter... wishing you and your families all the best.

Cheers!
