Bristol Results - Johnson Wins Again but Nobody Picked Him... A Whole Lotta Shakin' Going On!

Take a look at the +/- column... lots of spots being exchanged after the dust settled in Bristol, and this has been the trend all year thus far.  I do not see it changing with the new points system and I think it is great... for now at least.  I'm thinking I will start hating it when I begin my tumble down the leaderboard, but for now I love it!

TOP PICKS:

Truex has to be the TOP PICK this week as he tied Logano for the top point earner, but also won stage 2.  This gets Fast, Spinning and Kiss 48 race points plus a potential Bonus Point for the Chase.  Fast takes over the top spot and these rookies have owned the top spot for 4 out of the 1st 7 races... never going below 2nd all year.  Spinning jumps back up to 3rd which has been her high water mark so far this year and Kiss also jumps up to 3rd for the 1st time this year.  Rusty took Logano who also earned 48 points.  Rusty jumps up 2 spots to 6th and 38 points behind 1st.

Harvick got Beef 41 huge points and catapulted him out of the basement to 15th... up 2 spots this week.

EH...:

Pursuit, Piston and Chonk took 2nd place Bowyer which is great, but Bowyer had to work his way up to the front and overcome a pit road speeding penalty to get there... which translates into no stage bonus points and 35 race points.  In this new format... this will hose you a little.  Still a great day, but 13 points behind the top picks has to be an Eh...  Pursuit (7th) and Piston (11th) each gain a spot and Chonk remains in 16th.  Eh...

Elliott grabbed a 7th place finish and 35 race points due to a top 10 finish in stage 1.  Not a bad day, but not good enough to be a top pick and Penguin drops a spot to 2nd.  Eh...

Erik Jones ran well in both stages but brought it home in 17th place for Lets Go and Sexy.  Lets Go jumps up 2 spots to 8th while Sexy moves up 1 to 14th.  A great Eh... pick IMO.

Rudd and Shepard took 4th place finisher Kenseth... same deal as Bowyer no stage race points.  Shepard drops 2 spots to 5th while Rudd holds at 13th.  Eh...

DOOTW:

Kahne was solid in practice, but it did not translate into anything great in the race... Dust drops out of the Elite 8 to 9th but only by 2 points.  I think we'll see him bounce back for sure.

BSOTW:

Skidmarks, Ideal and Graziano get the stinky award this week.  Kyle Busch is not a huge Bristol fan, but you couldn't tell by the way he dominated practice.  He was a solid pick in theory but an accident did him in...  Gaining only 3 race points.  Skid drops 6 points to 10th, Ideal loses a spot to 12th and Graziano drops 3 spots and is now last.

OTHER RAMBLINGS:

Richmond this week on Sunday.

Feel free to post your thoughts on the site... it is always good to hear from you guys.

Cheers!
