The Brickyard 400 was dominated by Kyle Busch during Stages 1 & 2, but early on in Stage 3 Truex ended any hope of the 18 getting his 1st win of the year by wrecking both of the strongest cars out of the race. Kahne took advantage and took home the checkered flag and got Shepard his 3rd win of the season to lock his arse in! He also moves up a spot to 2nd just 4 points out of the top spot. Plus 3 bonus points for the Chase. Simple game. Congratulations Shepard!!!
Kyle Busch grabbed Rusty, Lets Go, Pursuit and Chicken 2 Bonus Points for winning Stage 1 & 2, but only Rusty and Lets Go are currently in the Elite 8. Kyle earned 23 points for his strong early performance so it could have been much worse.
Spinning took McMurray who earned 27 points and Fast took Johnson who earned only 12 points... meaning that we have a new leader ladies and gentlemen. Spinning moves up a spot to the top while Fast drops 3 to 4th. Congrats Spinning! I know Fast will rebound this week in the Poconos.
With 6 races to go before the Chase, the picture is getting clearer. We have 5 teams locked in and only 2 are in the Elite 8. 6 more teams have 2 wins and will be looking to get locked in during the next 6 races while battling for those potential Bonus Points.
