The FedEx 400 in Dover (some call it the Jimmie Johnson Invitational even though Piston didn't pick him...), gave a nice warm welcome for some to the 2nd half of the regular season. For others not so much...
My favorite column in our League spreadsheet is the +/-, and this week she lit up like a Christmas Tree... a 3-bulb Christmas Tree, but my point is we had a lot of shakin' going on again. Here goes...
TOP PICKS:
Jimmie Johnson (1st) picked by Empty, Skid, and Beef. Empty stays in the lead and extends his lead a little over the new 2nd Place car Skidmarks. Skid still has the hammer down and jumps up 1 spot and keeps pace with Empty. Beef is our biggest mover this week jumping up 3 spots and jumps back into Club Ocho Primo (COP)! Our defending Champion* is now in 7th; his highest mark of the season and looks to be eyeing even more spots as we head into the 2nd half of the regular season. Congratulations Boys!
Martin Truex Jr. (6th) picked by Rusty, Piston, and Pursuit. Jersey boy Truex was the strongest car for most of the day, but he just can't seem to get over the top and get that win... Rusty continues bounceback #2 moving up a spot to 3rd just 22 points out of the #1 spot...that 3rd win would've been nice though. Piston, knew JJ would win, but couldn't overlook Truex's strong sled... Team Piston jumps up a spot into 11th just 28 points out of COP. Pursuit was eyeing that 2nd win from the basement, but still jumps up a spot to 14th. I know the win was the goal, but still a strong week fellas!
EH...:
Carl Edwards (19th) picked by Dust. Dust submitted an early pick of Biffle 17th, but changed to Edwards who finished ok... when I do this my changed driver battles for the win while my submitted pick shits the bed, so an Eh... in this situation is like a win. Dust jumps up a spot to 4th and is 40 points out of 1st. Not a bad week...
Denny Hamlin (21st) picked by Ideal and Penguin. Fucking Bowyer! As much as I want to like him... he just seems to continue to bend me over whenever I pick him or one of my chosen drivers races around him. He should quit hanging out with those Duck Dynasty hillbillies and work on his racing in my humble opinion. Sorry to you Bowyer fans out there... I want to like him. Ideal still jumps up a spot into 6th just 46 points out. Penguin holds onto 9th but needs some speed racer gadgets for his drivers who race around dipshits...
DOOTW:
Our most popular Dover Kyle Busch (36th) was picked by Graziano, Asleep, Shepard, Chonk, and Rasta. Kyle ran great all day (top 5) and continues to amaze me as we watch him recover from a very bad accident. I missed the follow up but I think he had a spotter issue or Brian Scott had a spotter issue that caused them to make contact and end Busch's day. Graziano drops 3 spots to 5th, Asleep falls 2 spots out of COP to 10th, Shepard drops a spot to 12th, Chonk stays in 13th and Rasta falls down a spot to 15th and is now in the basement. A very disappointing day for a very strong car.
BSOTW:
Matt Kenseth (39th) was picked by Kiss. Kiss drops 3 spots to 8th but hangs on to the final COP spot. Kiss and his 3 wins will be fine, but bonus points have proven large. Beef had to have 8 of 10 tops 10s in the Chase, including 2 wins and 5 top 5s just to tie Chonk who started with a 23 point cushion on Beef last year. Kiss may have stinky sheets this week, but I don't think there's any panic for this team.
OTHER RAMBLINGS:
Pocono on Sunday.
We now have 8 2-win teams who will be looking to get locked in this week in Pocono. Kurt busch has the pole, Harvick has the speed, and the Hendrick boys have had plenty of success in Pocono... I'm interested to see how it will play out. After sitting out of the Chase last year... I want to lock in ASAP... then I can start to try to grab some bonus points. First things first... I want to win this week in Pocono!
Good luck on Sunday fellas!
Cheers!
