Kansas was yet another active week for our League. Lots of shuffling in the top 10. After Dega, we already had our first team locked into the Chase but another joins the 2 win group this week... which now contains 4 teams. As expected, we have some comers and goers as we near the end of the Spring segment of the League. Let's get to it...
TOP PICKS:
Graziano took race winner Jimmie Johnson to grab his 2nd win in a row! He also takes the lead by 4 points and looks like a lock to make the postseason this year. Graz started slow this year, but has been a member of Club Ocho Primo for the last 6 races. Awesome work Graziano!!!
Chonk took 2nd place finisher Harvick. Harvick was a strong pick and Chonk was going for the win, but check out our once 15th place team as he now has Club Ocho Primo realistically in his sights. Chonk gains 15 points on 8th this week and is heading in the right direction as we near the end of the Spring portion of the season. Boom!
Ideal took the 4th place car of Gordon. He stays in 7th but widens the gap on 8th by another 12 points... now 25 points clear. And he has 2 wins... life is good for Ideal!
Beef's 5th place Logano pick has him sitting pretty in the final Club Ocho Primo spot. He jumps up 1 spot this week. Beef had a slow start to the season but has hung out in the middle of the pack up till now and is looking to make a strong title defense* run during the 2nd half of the regular season. Way to go Beef!
Asleep's 6th place Kenseth pick has him up to 9th and just 2 points out of Club Ocho Primo. Like Beef he has hung out in the lower middle of the pack, but with 1 win and within striking distance of the qualifying spot... Asleep is looking poised to make a nice run as well. Simple game!
Shepard took 7th place Keselowski. Shepard stays in 12th with one win. He has tasted the sweetness of Club Ocho Primo this year a few times and is only 13 points away from a seat in the VIP section once again. Good week Shepard.
Our most popular pick of the week went to most laps led racer Truex Jr (9th). It could have been better but Truex gets a nice points day for our 3rd place team Skidmarks, 4th place team Dust, 5th place team Kiss, 11th place team Piston, and our last place team Pursuit. Skid, Dust and Kiss each gain a spot while Piston and Pursuit hold on to their positions. A win would have been nice but all in all a nice points day. Must be nice...
EH.../DOOTW/BSOTW:
Empty took 17th place Kahne to bring home the Eh.../DOOTW award this week. 17th place is usually not too bad, but Empty loses the top spot, but is still quite okay... more of an Eh... pick than a DOOTW.
Rusty (6th), Penguin (10th), and Rasta (14th) took Bed Shitter Edwards who finished 20th. Rusty drops 4 spots, but has 2 wins. He is fading away a little as we near the end of the Spring session... let's see if he can rebound. Penguin drops 2 spots and is out of Club Ocho Primo.. again. Definitely fading away, but with 2 wins it is not time to panic just yet. Rasta loses a spot and has yet to grab a win, so he'll need to get his shit together during the summer section of the season... Time to move in the other direction fellas!
OTHER RAMBLINGS:
Charlotte this week will end the Spring part of the season.
Some teams will look to continue their momentum while others will search to gain any momentum they can in the last Spring race. I am planning on using Charlotte as a spring board to a nice 2nd half of the regular season and on into the Chase... I remember last year, so hopefully history will not be repeated for me.
Good luck to all and I hope to see everyone in the Chase this year! If Tony Stewart can make the All-Star Race... why shouldn't we all be in the Chase. I need to Google how the f*ck the drivers get selected... Danika was a fan pick no-brainer, but Stewart??? Is he doing better on some secret point scale??? He's freaking 30th in driver points ferchryst'ssake!!! Anyway...
Cheers!
